Cameron Ling off to Ireland
October 2 2002

Geelong midfielder Cameron Ling has had to dust off his passport in preparation for a tour of Ireland with the Australian team. Australia is to play Ireland in the 'International Rules' series next week, in two matches. The hybrid game has been played in its current format for the past 4 seasons, and has struggled to pull any public interest.

Ling, called up to replace the injured Jason Akermanis, who is due to have throat surgery next week, is the only Geelong representative in the team. The team is coached by Garry Lyon, assisted by Gerard Healy. The plane departs next Monday.
