OTTENS TO GEELONG FOR BRENT MOLONEY AND PICK 16?
B Jensen 7 October 2004

ACCORDING to rumour mongers on the airwaves tonight, a 'done deal' has been struck, bringing Brad Ottens to Geelong, sending young gun Brent Moloney to Melbourne, and picks 12 and 16 to Richmond. Nothing has been confirmed by the Cats, Dees or Tigers, but nothing has been denied, either.

Should the rumours be true, Geelong will lose one of the bargains of the 2002 pre-season draft. Taken at pick number five after being overlooked in the earlier national draft, Moloney has proved something of a revelation in the Geelong midfield. Taking over the number 32 jumper made famous by Garry Hocking, Moloney also appeared to inherit Buddha's aggressive streak. It earned Moloney a suspension, after he was found guilty of striking former teammate David Clarke of Carlton in round two.

At this point in time, these radio and internet forum rumours are no more than speculation - no doubt by 2pm tomorrow we'll either miss out on a big fish again, or find out who we've had to give up to get the key forward we've needed for years.
