EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST CALLED FOR SKILLED STADIUM REDEVELOPMENT
October 8 2003

EOI'S HAVE BEEN CALLED for Stage 1 of the Skilled Stadium redevelopment. The City of Greater Geelong, who is managing the project, advertised in last Saturday's Geelong Advertiser and on their website (CLICK HERE). The bad news is that this is only the EOI stage. With a closing date of 15 October, we will be lucky if Tenders are called before Christmas. The first stage of works are supposedly going to be complete by Round 6.

Stadium Operations Manager, Kristen Gleeson, confirmed The Cattery that tenders have gone out, "early works will be beginning very soon. This will include the Eastern terrace". "Our first home game at Skilled Stadium will be played in round 6, to allow for early works to be completed, with the rest of the stand built throughout the season."

While it is great to see the project going ahead, one does worry about the optimism shown to the budget and the program. A project only need be delayed a week or two for double-digit variations to occur. Something that happens all too often with Government projects.
