TRADE WEEK AND DELISTINGS SUMMARY;
DRUM ROLLS INTO GEELONG By Justin Kremmer & Ben Jensen GEELONG easily faired one of the better teams to come out of this year’s trade week. Despite some nervy whispers of a deal reportedly under wraps that would send favourites David Wojcinski and Matty Stokes west, Geelong prevailed in the end by holding onto its entire premiership list, unlike in 2007 where Steven King was pushed out. However it hasn't been all rosey down at Cat land, with at least seven players having to leave if the Cats are to take all picks available in this month's draft. 2003 draft number 7 pick Kane Tenace has been delisted by the Cats, along with Dan McKenna, Scott Simpson and Adam Donohue. Rookie Bryn Weadon has also been given his marching orders, leaving room for ast least two rookies to be drafted. 2007 All Australian defender Matthew Egan has also been officially delisted, but will remain involved with the club. The only 'trade' loss was Shane Mumford, an up and coming ruckman who had made it there the hard way after coming into consideration for the finals. It’s pretty upsetting to see the big man go as he lifted his game to an extra level, at times even challenging for Mark Blake’s position. The Swans who had just traded Darren Jolly were able to offer a deal too good to refuse. Geelong also secured Marcus Drum from Fremantle, a promising defender who will be handy for the future as the defence is not getting any younger. Cats gained picks 28, 40, 42 and 56, overall a better result than previous. Ahead.
