Freo pull the Cats back down the ladder
August 19 2002

Fremantle 17.15.117 d Geelong 11.6.72

On Saturday at Subiaco Oval the mighty Fremantle Dockers downed the Cats by 45 points, in a match that Geelong never really looked like they were a chance. The Dockers were too fast, marked, tackled and were tackled better than the Cats, on a fine Perth afternoon.

Contributors for the Cats were few and far in between, but usual suspects James Kelly, Cameron Ling, and Cameron Mooney lead the way. Mooney kicked three goals, and Kelly two, while full forward Kent Kingsley continued to struggle, spending much of the match on the bench, injured, going goaless.

Geelong now is most likely facing a cut throat round 22 clash against Hawthorn at Colonial, the winner to progress into the finals series. However, Geelong does have a slim chance of qualifying without winning another game, should Hawthorn lose to the Kangaroos (and maintain its poor percentage), and West Coast not win another game.
