By Ben Jensen GEELONG has recalled Andrew Mackie for the clash with Port Adelaide, in place of fellow defender David Johnson is unlucky to miss through injury after hurting his calf earlier today. Captain Tom Harley is named as an emergency and will sit out this weekend due to the VFL interleague match against the WAFL. Also named as emergencies are Brent Prismall and Tom Hawkins. Hawkins will travel with the team to gain experience on the road without playing, similiar to Nathan Ablett in 2005.

THE CATS pack their bags and bring a security detail to face Port Adelaide in Adelaide this Sunday in a twilight fixture at AAMI Stadium. While both Geelong and Port Adelaide head into the match full of confidence after good starts to the season, both will suffer some trepidation. Geelong has traditionally struggled interstate, while winning in the last match between the two sides at AAMI Stadium and Port Adelaide comes off a thumping by Sydney at the SCG.

Geelong certainly has selection dilemmas. Captain Tom Harley resumed in the VFL against Box Hill last weekend. However with no VFL match this weekend due to the interleague match, selectors have to choose between rightfully elevating their Captain or having him sit out another match.

Paul Chapman will not be returning, having another week to rest his hamstring, hurtin the record breaking win over Richmond in round 6 (See INJURY LIST). Chapman was trouble by the same hamstring pre-season but was a chance to play last week against the Dockers.

Another under an injury cloud is the footballer formerly known as 'Jarad', Max Rooke. Rooke was impressive on Saturday but limped from the field with a groin injury. Like Chapman, Rooke is officially listed as 'Test', which means he is a chance to play but surely he won't be risked, although the Sunday twilight fixture, albeit interstate, may work in his favour.

Due to interleague games, there is no VFL matches this weekend.

HISTORY

Since Port Adelaide's inception as the Power in 1997, the sides have played just 14 times. Port have the upper hand ever so slightly, with seven wins to Geelong's six. There was also the somewhat memorable draw at AAMI Stadium in round 10 2000.

As noted earlier, the Cats have the recent wood on the Power. Geelong had a narrow win over Port at Skilled Stadium last season, but thumped them in the corresponding fixture the year before. In the same season Geelong had their 'breakthrough' interstate win over Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium in round 5, winning by five points.

GEELONG ground out a gutsy ten point win over Port Adelaide at Skilled Stadium this afternoon, in front of just under 20,000 who witnessed former Captain and now New York Jets punter Ben Graham's lap of honour prior to the match. The win was soured by the reporting of Cameron Mooney.

Amoung the 19,149 was Steve Bracks, in his normal position of Aisle 3 Row A in the Hickey Stand, and alongside him (for protection from angry constituents in the Grovedale area?) was former Victorian Governor John Landy.

Although the ground experienced quite heavy rain in the 48 hours prior to the game, the rain held off all game, removing the only excuse for the poor skill level displayed throughout the game by both sides.
