AFL 2010 1ST PRELIMINARY FINAL; COLLINGWOOD V GEELONG; MATCH PREVIEW INCLUDING TEAM LISTS, TV DETAILS
Ben Jensen 16 September 2010

By Ben Jensen GEELONG and Collingwood have both named unchanged lineups for their third Preliminary Final clash at the MCG in the past four years. The Cats resisted the temptation to recall Andrew Mackie and Mark Blake while the Magpies couldn't find room on their emergency list for veteran Simon Prestigiacomo. The match will be screened live on Channel Seven (as it should), as up to 100,000 people are expected to converge on the MCG for the seven thirty kick-off. Collingwood go in as favourites, having the wood over Geelong in their last match-up in round 19, while the Cats take in experience of two Premierships and two Preliminary final wins over the Magpies in the three previous seasons.

DAMN IT; COLLINGWOOD DEFEAT GEELONG, ALL BUT SECURE TOP SPOT
Ben Jensen 8 August 2010

Ben Jensen, in Heiligenblut, Austria COLLINGWOOD won the second of what will surely not be the last battle in the war for the AFL Premiership 2010 last night at the MCG. The Cats led narrowly at half time, 9.4 to 8.9, but could manage just three more goals and nine behinds as the Magpies booted six goals three to defeat their only realistic Premiership rivals by twenty-two points. James Podsiadly was a late inclusion, and kicked just the one goal while Travis Cloke went someway towards exorcising his goalkicking demons with two crucial goals. Geelong have another Saturday night game next round, an away fixture against the Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.
