AFL 2014 ROUND 7; GEELONG V RICHMOND; FINAL TEAMS AND MATCH PREVIEW
Ben Jensen 3 May 2014

By Ben Jensen GEELONG CATS V RICHMOND TIGERS GEELONG hosts Richmond in a home game at the MCG this Sunday afternoon, hoping to bounce back after their first loss for the season at the hands of Port Adelaide last week. The match is a 'Category B' game - translating as you can actually turn up and get in with your membership without being stung for extra by the AFL.

Steven Motlop, after two VFL games, will play his first AFL match of the season after recovering from a knee injury. Also coming back in is Dawson Simpson named on the bench while Jed Bews, son of local legends Andrew and Julie-Ann, will have to wait at least another week after being named an emergency.

Josh Walker has been dropped while Jackson Thurlow, initially named on the 7-man interchange is out an exclusion with a back complaint. Jordan Schroder has been added as an emergency.

The Tigers have swung the axe making four changes, all omissions, dropping Ricky Petterd, Dylan Grimes, Matthew Arnot and Ben Griffiths. Inclusions for the Mighty Tiges are Brett Deledio, Ty Vickery, Aaron Edwards and Alex Rance.

Geelong's official injury list is the longest it's been all season, some 13 names long, 14 if you add on Jackson Thurlow.

Allen Christensen is said to be close to resuming but is expected to come back via the VFL, where he's yet to make an apeparance. In the VFL the same two teams face off, the Tigers the home side, hosting the Cats at Punt Road Oval, also known as the Members' Equity Bank Centre.

CATS TESTED EARLY BUT RUN OUT EASY WINNERS OVER TIGERS
Ben Jensen 4 May 2013

GEELONG started tonight's match off fairly well but found themselves behind at quarter time and trailing by over 20 points in the second quarter before finishing off the quarter strongly to lead the Tigers at half time by five points. The third term saw the Cats kick six goals to three to lead by 30 points at the final break. The final winning margin was 44 points, fitting with Corey Enright playing his 250th game tonight.

Steve Johnson is our pick for BOG in his 200th game, but he was by no means alone with Allen Christensen, Matthew Stokes, Jimmy Bartel not far behind. Enright deserves a special mention, amazingly played his 250th game tonight and didn't let his fans down with a great game down back and late in the final quarter booted an amazing goal from the boundary line 40m out to huge cheers.
