By Ben Jensen 1989 VFL GRAND FINAL HAWTHORN V GEELONG WELL, like the 2008 AFL Grand Final I've actually tried to forget much of this day, the first Grand Final my beloved Cats played in during my lifetime, and as near as we got for another 18 years. Of course everyone remembers if for the huge, miles off the ball hit by Mark Yeates on Dermott 'Dermie' Brereton at the opening bounce. Until spotting this video again recently, I'd forgotten that the Cats got off to the perfect start, with Gary Ablett converting a set shot from just outside fifty in the opening seconds. Here it is.
