AKERMANIS ODDS ON FOR BROWNLOW
August 26 2003

BRISBANE LION JASON AKERMANIS, best on ground against the Cats in Round 21, is odds on to win his 2nd Brownlow. That is if history continues to repeat itself. The 2000, 2001 and 2002 Brownlow Medal winners have all picked up 3 votes in Round 21 against Geelong. Cat Steven Johnson kicked a brilliant six goals two behinds, along with seven tackles. Johnson, who started the season off slowly, has been an excellent contributer the last few weeks, albeit in losing sides.

Geelong, thrashed in the first half, came back in the third term with six goals to three, but it was never going to be enough. The Lions eventually won by 37 points, with key forward Daniel Bradshaw also booting six goals. Bradshaw is rumored to be on Geelong's hitlist for 2004, along with Hawk Jade Rawlings and Essendon's Scott Lucas.

This week Geelong takes on the Saints at home. St Kilda thrashed the Cats back in Round 7 at Telstra Dome. In that match Cameron Ling was suspended, along with St Kilda's Steven Milne.

Post Round 22, The Cattery will be rating each and every player on Geelong's list. We'll give our opinion on whether or not they should go, and where they should play.
