YOUNG CATS COP A HIDING BY TIGERS
Ben Jensen 27 February 2010

By Ben Jensen RICHMOND handed an under-strength Geelong side a 51 point defeat at Yea today. For the Cats James Podsiadly, Jesse Stringer, Steven Motlop and Allen Christensen took their chances to impress in the absence of names like Ablett, Ling, Selwood, Johnson, Mooney, Mackie, Hawkins, Rooke and Corey. Bad news for the Cats however, with Tom Allwright proving anything but, and due to miss six weeks with a knee injury. Geelong Football boss Neil Balme confirmed Allwright suffered a posterior cruciate ligament injury in the first half, but doesn't believe Jeremy Laidler, who rolled an ankle, is in serious trouble. The Cats play Brisbane Lions on the Gold Coast next week. It is not yet clear if Gary Ablett will make the trip.
