By Ben Jensen twitter.com/thecattery GEELONG defeated the Western Bulldogs by 21 points at Etihad Stadium after being held goalless in the final term while the Bulldogs kicked three goals. The Cats lead by 46 points at three quarter time and seemed to be cruising to a ten goal win. Harry Taylor added three more for the quarter for a total of five after starting up forward. Steven Motlop three goals while at the other end Liam Jones booted four goals and Jake Stringer three.

Recruits Josh Caddy and Jared Rivers took no further part in the match in the first half, Rivers incurring a knee injury and subbed of for Taylor Hunt, Caddy a more precautionary move after receiving a knock to the head. Skipper Joel Selwood briefly left the field during the third quarter after a whack to the guts by opposite number Matthew Boyd.

In the VFL the Cats thumped Frankston by 79 points.
