CATS CRASH OUT TO KANGAROOS

By Ben Jensen GEELONG's fledgling season may well be over already after crashing out to the Kangaroos at Skilled Stadium today. Despite a late comeback, it was too little, too late as the Kangaroos won by . The positive aspects of the day were the form of Joel Selwood and the VFL team. Selwood played well above expectations of a fourth gamer whilst the VFL team had a rousing win over North Ballarat. 21,462 were in attendance, including Premier Steve Bracks, a disappointing crowd considering it was the first game at Skilled Stadium of the season.

VFL RESULTS

GEELONG snuffed out North Ballarat with what is becoming a characteristic last quarter charge, outscoring the Roosters six goals to nil. Todd Grima once again impressed with another bag of five goals, while 'top up' player Shane Mumford, all near seven feet of him, thrilled the crowd with his deft touch and five goals. Steve Johnson was yet again at another level to the rest of both teams and will almost certainly line up in the AFL against Richmond next Sunday night at the Telstra Dome.
