Cats not up to scratch against Bulldogs
March 30 2003

GEELONG went down to the Western Bulldogs by 39 points at Telstra Dome today. At quarter time, with the Dogs four goals in front, Geelong never really got back into the match other than a short period towards the end of the first half. From then on it was smooth sailing for the Bulldogs, who oscillated around a 20 or 30 point lead for most of the second half. Best for Geelong were Steven King, Ben Graham and Cameron Ling. Besides Graham, who made another trademark blunder resulting in goal, the rest of the Geelong defenders were disappointing. Tom Harley was replaced in the selected side by Brent Grgic, who performed reasonably well.

Next week Geelong faces the Kangaroos at Skilled Stadium, who your correspondent saw at the MCG yesterday account for St Kilda. The Roos never really stretched themselves against the Saints, eventually running out winners by 26 points. Geelong should welcome back Tom Harley, while the Roos will be without key defender Glen Archer.
