CATS DRAFT NEW BLOOD

By Ben Jensen GEELONG has drafted five new recruits in last week's 2009 AFL National Draft. The Cats also used their sixth pick to elevate Jeremy Laidler from the rookie list. First pick with number 17 overall was Daniel Menzel of SANFL side Central Districts. Second (28 overall) was Mitchell Duncan of East Perth (WAFL) where Joel Corey hails from, and third (40) Allen Christensen of Lara and nephew of Marty and Damien. Ruckman Nathan Vardy of Gippsland Power was next with overall pick number 42, a direct replacement for Shane Mumford who moved to Sydney, and Joshua Cowan (pick 56) of North Ballarat rounded out Geelong's draftees.
