AFL PREMIERSHIP SEASON 2008 ROUND 12; GEELONG V PORT ADELAIDE; MATCH PREVIEW PLUS TV / RADIO BROADCAST DETAILS
Ben Jensen 13 June 2008

By Ben Jensen GEELONG V PORT ADELAIDE THE CATS host the Power at Skilled Stadium this Sunday. The eight and a half day break wasn't enough for All Australian defender Matthew Scarlett to recover however, he'll miss out along with Shannon Byrnes. Scarlett, who injured a hamstring in the win over the Kangaroos last week, isn't expected back at least until round fourteen. Harry Taylor was rushed back into the side along with Josh Hunt to shore up defence, while David Wojcinski has been dropped. Also returning is Joel Selwood.

The Power will be without Paul Stewart (neck), Toby Thurstans (knee)through injury but crucially Shaun Burgoyne returns from suspension, along with Nick Lower and Jacob Surjan. Nathan Krakouer was dropped.

GEELONG TOO GOOD FOR PORT ADELAIDE
Justin Kremmer 24 March 2008

By Justin Kremmer THE Grand Final re-match at AAMI Stadium on Thursday night promised a typical Round One hit-out between now rivals Geelong and Port Adelaide. Both teams had declared during the off-season the last time they met, less than six months ago on the main stage, was done and dusted and from the first bounce this was a new season.

A new page could be written. Yet, the humiliation and upset of Port fans could be somewhat resolved by a respectable performance, a contrast to the 119-point loss. Geelong, however, had come simply to win the points and win they did, indeed, by nine points in their first away game for the year.

THE BENDIGO BANK CATS lost top spot on the TruEnergy VFL ladder with a one point loss to Casey at Cranbourne's Casey Fields on Sunday.
