AFL 2018 Round 7: Geelong Cats v GWS Giants; Match preview and teams

AFL ROUND 7 2018, GEELONG CATS V GWS GIANTS, GMHBA STADIUM, FRIDAY 4 MAY 2018, 19:50 AEST
Ben Jensen, May 3 2018 IN A SAD WEEK for the Geelong Cats, with club legend Russell ‘Hooker’ Renfrey passing away and former Coach Mark Thompson facing drug charges, the match this Friday against the Greater Western Sydney Giants has been somewhat outshone.

Scott Selwood will return after missing last round with concussion, George Horlin-Smith will definitely miss with the same injury, and Gary Ablett has been left on the sidelines for another week. Stewart Crameri has been named for his first game with the Cats and Zac Smith gets another chance at the expense of Rhys Stanley. James Parsons has also been dropped.

In the VFL the Cats have a bye, winning three of their first four games. The VFL Women’s side play their season opener on Sunday against Melbourne Uni at GMHBA Stadium, the day kicking off with an Auskick ‘super clinic’.
