Cats win Danger game over Crows

AFL 2019 round 15 Geelong Cats v Adelaide Crows, Ben Jensen GEELONG was tested early on but solid second, third and final quarters saw them defeat Adelaide by 27 points on Friday night at GMHBA Stadium, a match the Cats emerged almost unscathed but for a very sore Patrick Dangerfield (see video further below).

The Crows had the better start taking an early fifteen point lead before the Cats got going. Taylor Walker kicked his only goal of the match while Gary Ablett, Tom Hawkins and Paul Seedsman who would go on to be multiple goal kickers all got on the board too. Rhys Stanley, who in my opinion cops far too much stick including after last week’s loss to the Power, kicked a goal after the quarter time siren to make the margin nine points to the Crows.

When Lachlan Murphy and Hugh Greenwood put the Crows twenty points in front mine minutes into the final quarter Cats fans got a bit nervous, but their boys slammed on the final three goals of the quarter to take a one point lead into quarter time. Hawkins kicked his second, Tim Kelly his first, while Jed Bews in his first game all season brought the house down with the Cats’ third.

The game was very much in the balance at half time but the second half was mostly Geelong; the two sides went goal for goal for half of the third term but the Cats then broke free increasing their lead to 14 points by the final break. A three goal to one final quarter gave the Cats a handy win, easily clear of second place on the ladder. All three Cats sides won on the weekend; the VFL men and women both had wins against their respective Blues opponents in Carlton.
