Richmond Tigers v Geelong Cats; AFL 2019 round 12 match preview and team lists

Richmond Tigers v Geelong Cats; AFL 2019 round 12 match preview and team lists, GMHBA Stadium, Friday 7 June 2019
Ben Jensen, 6 June 2019 Gary Ablett returns from suspension to play the Tigers this Friday night at the MCG; joining him is ruckman Rhys Stanley who was a late change from the side that beat Sydney last week. Ablett and Stanley’s inclusions are at the expense of omitted pair James Parsons, Zac Smith who return to the VFL. Both are listed as emergencies along with Jed Bews and Lachie Fogarty. Bews and Fogarty continue to press for an AFL recall after each missed the opening two months of the season with troublesome groin and hip injuries respectively.

Richmond has made four changes among them recalling Dean Rioli, dropping infamous backman Nathan Broad. Patrick Naish has been named to make his AFL debut. Also returning is Jacob Townsend and Jack Graham;  omitted is Shai Bolton and David Astbury misses with a hamstring injury. All three Cats & Tigers sides play this weekend; the VFL men and women play at Punt Road Oval (known commercially as Swinburne Centre) on Saturday.

Richmond has had the better of Geelong the past three encounters winning both matches in 2018 and of course gave the Cats a bit of a belated belting in the 2017 second qualifying final.
