Collingwood Magpies v Geelong Cats; AFL 2019 round 1 match preview and team lists

Collingwood Magpies v Geelong Cats; AFL 2019 round 1 match preview and team lists, MCG, Friday 22 March 2019, 19:50 AEST
Ben Jensen, 21 March 2019 GEELONG has named six new players to play Collingwood tomorrow night at the MCG. Former Geelong Falcons Gary Rohan and Luke Dahlhaus who joined the club from Sydney and Western Bulldogs respectively take the spots alongside fellow new Cats Gryan Miers, Charlie Constable, Tom Atkins and Jordan Clark. Gary Ablett as expected is named in a forward pocket rather than the midfield. The match starts at 7:50PM. Collingwood has just the one new player in Jordan Roughead recruited from the Bulldogs.

Jed Bews and Nakia Cockatoo will miss through injury but Esava Ratugolea passed a fitness test and lines up at centre half forward, in a forward line missing Dan Menzel. Rhys Stanley is named in the ruck and will presumably alternate with Ratugolea. Ryan Abbott, Geelong’s first-choice ruckman in their last game in the 2018 finals series, is an emergency. Many players were let go last season but James Parsons, Jordan Cunico were not among them, named as emergencies alongside Abbott and Quinton Narkle.
