Unimpressive Cats get job done over winless Kangaroos

Geelong Cats v North Melbourne Kangaroos, AFL 2021 round 5 Ben Jensen GEELONG accounted for North Melbourne in yesterday’s twilight fixture at GMHBA Stadium in unconvincing style after farewelling Gary Ablett and Harry Taylor before the match. The Kangaroos led for most of the first half before the inaccurate Cats pulled away taking an eight-behind lead into the main break. A seven goal to four second half put the result beyond doubt.

Kangaroo Aaron Hall was substituted with Curtis Taylor after a shocking accidental collision with Mitch Duncan he initially recovered from but ultimately couldn’t continue with, being reported with concussion. The Cats’ substitute Jordan Clark went unused although Patrick Dangerfield missed roughly the final ten minutes of the game after injuring an ankle. Charlie Lazarro was listed as having ‘hamstring awareness’ which we didn’t know was an injury.

Next week the Cats play West Coast at home, the match beginning at 1:45pm on Saturday. Coach Chris Scott has already declared Jeremy Cameron will play so it will be interesting to see who will make way; possibly Sam De Koning who made his debut yesterday.
