Geelong Cats suffer first lost of season at hands of GWS Giants

GEELONG were handed their first defeat of the 2019 AFL season by the Greater Western Sydney Giants at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday afternoon, losing by four points after leading for most of the match. The Cats led at each change but their lead was just one point at three quarter time after having a three goal advantage at quarter and half time.

The Cats’ next match is against Hawthorn at the MCG on Easter Monday. The Giants play at home on Saturday against the Fremantle Dockers. GWS skipper Callan Ward won’t be playing after suffering a season-ending knee ACL rupture. The Cats VFL side plays in Werribee on Saturday; they lost on Sunday to the Northern Blues in round one by one point.
