Another change for the Cats, another reprieve; Scott Selwood out, George Horlin-Smith in

Ben Jensen, May 12 2018 GEELONG has made a change to their side to play Collingwood on Sunday, with Scott Selwood out with a back injury, giving George Horlin-Smith who missed the cut last night another chance to show what he can do in the AFL. As we said on Friday night for Horlin-Smith, “Still, if you’d missed selection just wait 5 minutes as they are starting to say down at Geelong there might just be a late change.” Jamaine Jones has been added to the emergency list.

The Cats play the Magpies at the MCG tomorrow at 3:20PM, the match to be broadcast on Channel Seven and Fox Footy. Tom Hawkins will miss after being suspended for making contact with an umpire. Also missing will be young player Lachie Fogarty who has been managed. Rhys Stanley and Zach Guthrie were let go on Friday after initially being named in the squad of 28.

Coming into the side are Gary Ablett, Harry Taylor, ruckman Zac Smith and forward James Parsons. George Horlin-Smith and tall forward Wylie Buzza like Stanley and Guthrie were included in the intitial squad of 28 but left out as emergencies. Ablett and Taylor return from early season injuries to their hamstring and foot respectively, while Horlin-Smith is back but via the VFL. Horlin-Smith had a great game against Port Adelaide but was concussed the next week in the loss to Sydney should be fit but unfortunately for him it was always a question of where he’d slot in.

Collingwood has axed two players in Ben Crocker and Jarryd Blair, bringing in Daniel Wells and Callum Brown. The Magpies initially named four ins, but settled on two. Crocker and Blair join Alex Fasolo and Josh Daicos on the emergency list. It is an afternoon of Geelong v Collingwood- The VFL men play Collingwood also at Olympic Park over the way from the MCG at 11:30AM, and the VFL Women play also at Olympic Park at 2:30PM.
