Cats move into top three with win over Magpies

Ben Jensen 13 May 2018, AFL Round 8 2018, Collingwood Magpies v Geelong Cats GEELONG beat Collingwood by 21 points at the MCG today in their Mother’s Day clash, not the most enthralling encounter but another stepping stone for many of the young Cats. The top three Cats were second year defender Tom Stewart, first year midfielder Tim Kelly and third year Sam Menegola who booted an equal career best three goals.

There was no changes on the day for the Cats although on Saturday Scott Selwood was withdrawn with a back complaint replaced by George Horlin-Smith who was unlucky to miss out in the first place. Magpie skipper Scott Pendlebury was a late change replaced by Ben Crocker.

All three Geelong and Collingwood sides played each other today – the Magpies got the better of the VFL Cats by 4 points while in the VFL Women’s match it was a draw. Both matches were played at the Olympic Park stadium Collingwood managed to commandeer along with the VIS facility at the former Glasshouse.
