AFL ROUND 9 2018, ESSENDON BOMBERS V GEELONG CATS

AFL ROUND 9 2018, ESSENDON BOMBERS V GEELONG CATS, MCG, SATURDAY 19 MAY 2018, 16:35 AEST
Ben Jensen, May 17 2018 ESAVA RATUGOLEA is out of the Geelong side to play the beleaguered Essendon Bombers at the MCG this Saturday afternoon due to injury. Tom Hawkins will return after being suspended for making contact with an umpire. Dan Menzel remains on the sidelines with a groin injury.

The Bombers meanwhile have made no fewer than five changes with two players dropped one rested or ‘managed’ as the Cats would say and two injured. The match is an Essendon home game and is branded the ‘Powercor Country Festival’. How a country game comes to be in Melbourne well outside Powercor’s network is anyone’s guess, but beyond our pay grade. The match is to be broadcast on Fox Footy only.

The VFL men also play Essendon on Saturday at Windy Hill at 12noon while in the VFL Women the Cats play Williamstown, at Williamstown, also on Sunday at 2pm.
