AFL Round 21, 2018, Hawthorn Hawks v Geelong Cats match preview

AFL Round 21 2018, Hawthorn Hawks v Geelong Cats, MCG, Saturday 11 August 2018, 13:45 AEST
Ben Jensen, August 9 2018 JED BEWS will miss this Saturday’s clash with Hawthorn at the MCG but fellow defender Tom Stewart is named to play. The Cats made four other changes swinging the axe on Jackson Thurlow, Ryan Abbott, Jamaine Jones and Jordan Cunico. Returning along with Stewart is number one ruckman Rhys Stanley, first-year forward Quinton Narkle, and what we’ll call project players James Parsons and Mark O’Connor; make of that what you will. Sam Menegola will play his fiftieth AFL game, the 26 year old midfielder and handy cyclist only played his first game at the Cats, his third AFL club, in 2016 after missing selection when on Fremantle and Hawthorn’s lists.

The Hawks have made just the two changes bringing in debutante Conor Nash and losing Brendan Whitecross to injury. Harry Taylor is also due for a fitness test this week but if he does return it will be in the VFL. The VFL sides both play the Bombers at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday, the men first at 7:00PM and the girls kicking off proceedings at 4:40.
