Scrappy Cats hold off Magpies

Collingwood Magpies v Geelong Cats, AFL 2021 round 11 Ben Jensen GEELONG held Collingwood to no goals in the first half and one in the third quarter, but won by only ten points as the Magpies belatedly found out where the goals were with the final three goals of the match. Played in front of an empty crowd the Collingwood home fixture did have recorded crowd noise. Cameron Guthrie as expected was a late change, replaced by brother Zach, while a surprise out was Mark Blicavs with a calf complaint which gave ruckman Rhys Stanley an opportunity. There was not too much to write home about after the match, the Cats winning their eighth match after eleven rounds now sitting fourth on the AFL ladder. The Cats have a bye next week and ironically seeing how the latest scorched earth lockdown in Victoria was triggered play their next game in Adelaide on Thursday 10 June against the Port Power.
