Collingwood Magpies v Geelong Cats; AFL 2022 round 3 match preview and team lists

Collingwood Magpies v Geelong Cats, AFL 2022 round 3 match preview and team lists
Ben Jensen SAM DE KONING and serially managed Shaun Higgins return to the Cats’ side to take on the Magpies in an away match at the MCG tonight, where Geelong skipper Joel Selwood will become the record-holder for most AFL games as Captain. Selwood played his first game in 2007 and took over as skipper in 2012 after the Cats’ third premiership of that era. Selwood’s 227th match as captain will take him past Carlton legend Stephen ‘Sticks’ Kernahan who finished his career on two more than AFL Hall of Fame ‘Legend’ Dick Reynolds (224).

Making way for De Koning and Higgins are omitted duo Luke Dahlhaus and Zac Guthrie. Last week’s sub Quinton Narkle was also left out and was not named on the emergency list. Interestingly Mark O’Connor is named as an emergency, who hasn’t played a game yet this season due to a knee injury. Of the emergencies O’Connor and Guthrie are both playing against Collingwood in the VFL as we go to press, with Mitch Knevitt and Dahlhaus not featuring, presumably kept in reserve for tonight. For the Magpies former Cat Nathan Kreuger will miss with injury.
