North Melbourne Kangaroos v Geelong Cats; AFL 2022 round 6 match preview and team lists

North Melbourne Kangaroos v Geelong Cats, AFL 2022 round 6 match preview and team lists
Ben Jensen OLIVER DEMPSEY is a chance to make his AFL debut on Sunday after being named in the initial squad to play against North Melbourne on Sunday in Hobart. But there’s every chance he will be named an emergency instead, being one of eight on an extended interchange. Also named as inclusions are Shaun Higgins after a week off managed, Esava Ratugolea back from ankle injury.

UPDATE 22/4/2022: Geelong youngster Ollie Dempsey will make his debut on Sunday against the Kangaroos in Tasmania, the blonde forward finding out this afternoon before breaking the news to his parents in a phone call published on the Cats’ Twitter feed (see below). The Rookie-listed 19 year old was picked up by the Cats with pick fifteen in the 2021 AFL Rookie draft after playing footy with Carey Grammar and Old Carey, not the conventional TAC Cup route due to focusing on basketball in his early to mid teens. Standing at 185 cm Dempsey has kicked several bags of goals for the Cats’ VFL side already this season and comes into a side that will be missing Patrick Dangerfield, Jack Henry and Luke Dahlhaus. Dangerfield will miss due to a corked calf suffered in Easter Monday’s loss to Hawthorn, Henry missing due to a foot complaint from the same match. Dahlhaus is being managed.
