AFL Grand Final umpires named

Geelong Cats v Sydney Swans, AFL 2022 Grand Final umpires The umpiring team for the 2022 AFL Grand Final between the Geelong Cats and Sydney Swans tomorrow at the MCG has been named; a veteran trio of Matt Stevic, Brendan Hosking and Simon Meredith will umpire with Hayden Gavine as emergency. Running boundary are Michael Marantelli, Christopher Gordon, Matthew Konetschka and Ben Macdonald while Matt Tomkins will be emergency. In goal just the two of course; Matthew Dervan and Sam Walsh, and Dylan Benwell as emergency.

GEELONG has once more named an unchanged line-up for the 2022 AFL Grand Final, the only ‘omission’ again like the last final with the medical substitute from the preliminary final, Mark O’Connor, left out. The Sydney Swans on the other hand have made a big call dropping Logan McDonald in favour of Hayden McLean, who hasn’t played since round 8. The Cats have named Max Holmes who is under a serious cloud with a hamstring injury and the Swans have also rolled the dice including veteran Sam Reid. Brandan Parfitt seems to be the emergency who would come in for Holmes should he not pass a fitness test; the other emergencies named are ruckman Jonathan Ceglar, likely substitute O’Connor, and midfielder Sam Menegola. The umpires have not been named yet.
