Street parade to celebrate Geelong Cats’ AFL premiership this Tuesday

A PARADE has been announced to celebrate Geelong’s AFL premiership. The City of Greater Geelong will be putting on the parade which begins at 11am on Tuesday 27 September and is expected to take approximately one hour. A civic presentation will follow at Steampacket Place, bypassing traditional venue Johnstone Park.

Moorabool Street will be temporarily renamed ‘Premiership Way’ for the occasion which is expected to attract hundreds of fans. The parade will begin at Garden Street near the Eastern Gardens, travelling along Eastern Beach Road, continuing into Brougham Street before turning right into Moorabool Street heading towards Steampacket Place. Fittingly the parade will travel past venues presently or in the past operated by Cats identities including long-time president Frank Costa, premiership skipper Cameron Ling and club legend Billy Brownless. The Waterfront will be brought to life for the street parade, which will see the Cats players travel by car from Upper Eastern Beach Road, along Brougham Street, down Moorabool Street and along Eastern Beach Road.

The parade will culminate at Steampacket Gardens at midday for a civic presentation with the players.

This is a fantastic opportunity for fans to congratulations coach Chris Scott, all the players, their families and support staff.
